The Harvard Club of Switzerland would like to invite you to our Founder’s Talk, in which we invite founders of growth stage ventures to share their perspective in respective sectors, how they identified disruptive or niche opportunities and their journey and learnings from 0 to 1.

With the historic first launch of Falcon heavy rocket in February and its following launch series by SpaceX, space technology is getting more public tractions and we saw a booming venture activities in this sector solving different problems. Astrocast, the first Advanced Nanosatellite IoT Network and M2M communication and a Swiss venture, is one of them. This time, we are honoured to have José Achache, Chairman of Astrocast, and former Deputy Director of CNES, ambassador of ESA in Switzerland, a veteran top executive and leading architect in the European Space technology and security, to share with us his perspectives of the recent development in space technology, its future as well as venture applications in the case of Astrocast.

Meet José Achache

José Achache was appointed chairman of Astrocast's board in September 2017. He is the president of ALTYN and Managing Director of AP-Swiss, a joint undertaking of ESA, the European Space Agency, and the Swiss Space Office. Previously, he was Director of Earth Observation Programmes at ESA and Deputy Director General for Research and Technology at CNES, the French space agency. He is the architect of COPERNICUS, the Global Monitoring for Environment and Security programme of the European Union. A graduate of Ecole Normale Supérieure in Paris, he holds a PhD in Geophysics and a PhD in Physical Sciences.
 

About Astrocast

Astrocast was founded in 2014 to design, develop and operate ASTROCAST, a network of Nano-satellites (so-called cubesats) with the aim to deploy a global IoT Network and provide machine-to-machine (M2M) communication services to the global businesses at the lowest cost in the industry. The company is also developing a transceiver (chip) that can be integrated into current machines, to communicate with these satellites.
