The Harvard Club of Switzerland would like to invite you to our Founder’s Talk, in which we invite founders of growth stage ventures to share their perspective in respective sectors, how they identified disruptive or niche opportunities and their journey and learnings from 0 to 1.
This time, we are honored to have Moritz Lechner, PhD, Co-Chairman of the Board and Founder of Sensirion, a Swiss originated sensor company, that started in 1998 as an ETH spin-off, now becoming the world's leading manufacturer of digital microsensors and -systems with global presence.
This event, kindly hosted by Sensirion at their Headquarters in Stäfa, Zurich, will start with a rare chance to tour Sensirion’s research lab and production facility. The tour will be led by the founder, and followed by a talk to understand his exciting entrepreneurial journey of challenges, evolvement, funding and IPO, as well as his vision of the future of the company and the IoT technology.

Meet Moritz Lechner, PhD
Co-Chairman of the Board of Sensirion and Founder
Moritz Lechner is entrepreneur. Born in 1969 (Switzerland), he studied physics at the ETH in Zurich and at the EPFL in Lausanne. He did his Ph.D. in Elementary Particle Physics at the Budker Institute of Nuclear Physics in Novosibirsk (Russia) and at the Paul Scherrer Institute in Villigen (Switzerland).
Moritz Lechner is a member of the Board of Directors of Dectris (spin-off PSI), 3db (ETH Zürich), and IRsweep (ETH Zürich), as well as Member of the Advisory Council Digital Transformation for Federal Councillor Schneider Amman and Federal Councillor Doris Leuthard.;
About Sensirion AG
In 1998, Felix Mayer and Moritz Lechner started their own company Sensirion AG as a spin-off from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH) Zurich. For 18 years, they managed Sensirion as Co-CEOs. In July 2016 they both handed over their function to the next generation by stepping down from their operational management duties. In their new role as active Co-Chairmen, they now focus on strategic product innovations for new markets.
Since its foundation, Sensirion has grown to over 750 employees and nowadays is one of the leading sensor companies for flow and environmental sensor solutions. The company is based in Stäfa near Zurich, Switzerland, and employs people in countries such as the USA, South Korea, Japan, China, Taiwan and Germany. The headquarters in Switzerland is responsible for research, development and production.
In March 2018, the shares of Sensirion were traded at the SIX Swiss Exchange for the first time.
