Private Equity – Driver for Growth or Locusts
Meet Our Guest
Steffen Pauls, a Harvard alumnus who completed his master thesis at our university, is a distinguished veteran of the private equity industry and was among the early employees of KKR. In 2016, he founded Moonfare, an investment platform that facilitates access to feeder funds, enabling smaller investors to participate in leading private equity funds such as KKR, Permira, General Catalyst, EQT, Cinven, Warburg Pincus, and The Carlyle Group. His vision is to "democratize" private equity investing by broadening its accessibility.
Moonfare’s innovative business model has been featured as the subject of a Harvard Business School case study, underscoring its relevance and impact. Given his deep insights into the private equity landscape, Steffen Pauls is exceptionally well positioned to address the debate around growth drivers versus “locusts”—the latter being a term coined by Franz Müntefering, former chairman of the SPD, to describe private equity investors.
