Meet Our Guest

Thomas Luescher

Professor Lüscher is internationally recognised as one of the leading figures in cardiovascular medicine. Since October 2017, he has been Director of Research, Education & Development at Imperial College London and the Royal Brompton & Harefield Hospital Trust, and Director of the Center for Molecular Cardiology at the University of Zurich.

From 1996 to 2017, he was Chairman of Cardiology at the University Hospital Zurich, and from 2009 to 2020, he served as Editor-in-Chief of the European Heart Journal. He furthermore serves as President of the European Society of Cardiology. Thomas Lüscher is among the top 0.1 % most-cited scientists worldwide, reflecting broad influence in cardiovascular and internal medicine research.

Drawing on decades of pioneering research and clinical practice, Professor Lüscher will provide insights into the remarkable advances in cardiology over the past 20 years—highlighting cutting-edge therapies, best practices in prevention, and the substantial improvements achieved in both life expectancy and quality of life.

Cardiovascular disease is not merely an academic topic: in Switzerland, approximately 35% of all deaths are attributable to cardiovascular and pulmonary conditions. This makes the discussion both timely and profoundly relevant.
